Just so you know even by filing you will still be responsible for every $ amount you owe...thats the new law .Your best bet is to contact a debt consolidation company and let them help you, they can get the creditors off your back and make it so you pay one debt payment each month that will most likely come directly out of you paycheck and then get someone to help you with a budget ( Add up all your monthly bills and divide that amount by 4 thats how much you will have to take out each weekly paycheck and have it directly deposited to your checking account , use that money for your monthly bills only, whatever balance is left over each week will be given to you in your paycheck thats what you have to spend for all your other stuff)

Hi!
I have been there. It is embarrassing. I was overwhelmed w/ student loans and zero child support. I contacted a bankruptcy lawyer $450, and did it. I only declared my student loans though. I worked extra to pay off the rest of the people I owed .

Good luck. A fresh start is a good thing.

Look for a credit councilor. You don't want to file bankrupcy if you can avoid it. They are making it harder all the time to do and well lets face it you got yourself into this mess. Filing bankrupcy will only make it harder on everyone else. If you go to credit counciling they can help you consolodate your debts and get smaller monthly payments. Maybe you could also let that new car go back and get something you won't have to have full coverage auto insurance on. Good luck

You get a lawyer, a bankruptcy specialist, out of the phone book, or you fill out the forms yourself. There are at least fifty pages, and if you don't do it correctly; you are laible to not get some debts off your books. Yahoo had tons of search results for bankruptcy.

An Attorney costs around $900.00 to do a bankruptsy. have you considered debt consolidation? This should be your last result..... Good luck to you, things will get better and there is light at the end of the tunnel

Of course you have a choice. You are paying payments on a NEW CAR and INSURANCE? And you are broke?

Then sell the car. You are most likely upside down (you owe more than it's worth) but that is not a valid reason to keep dumping money into it. Sell the car so you can cut that payment off.

Then work on paying back your debts. You may need to get a second (or third) job and cut your lifestyle way back.

Make the minimum payments on every one of them. On the lowest dollar value, put all your extra effort toward paying it off. Once it is paid off, then roll that extra money to the next largest balance. Continue this snowball until all your debts are paid off.

You probably need to cut your expenses back to the bare minimum. Get rid of cable, cell phones, internet, etc. Lower your electric bill, gas bill, water bill, etc. Don't eat at a restaurant until your debts are under control. Take a sandwich for lunch. Cancel the gym membership.

Try to increase your income by getting a second job. If you have a car with payments, get rid of it, and buy a good dependable used car for CASH.

Go to the library and get "The Total Money Makeover". Read it and follow it carefully.

Go check out Dave's website as well.

Yahoo is blocking the link for Dave's website for some reason. Guess they don't want people to use sound money methods?!?!?

It is www . dave ramsey . com without the spaces

And DON'T do debt consolidation. It just moves your debt around. It rolls high interest items AND LOW interest items into the same loan at a mid-range interest rate. It might lower your monthly payments, but that means it will take even LONGER to get out of debt. IT also frees up all your lines of credit so you can simply run them up again! Finally, you often have to pay a loan origination fee.

Insurance benefits are not taxable, so it doesn't matter what the housekeeper did or did not claim. The housekeeper certainly has to pay taxes on her income, of course, but that isn't your friend's problem.

Well you found him that's all that matters. What he did is a Felony and is in big trouble. You should get a lawyer or at least consult one. Ask your insurance company what to do step by step. Oh get a police report, and have the police match up the damage marks on his car. People like him need to be banned from the road!

I would talk to your insurance company. This stuff happens all of the time. They can advise you. If you don't like what you hear get a lawyer. You may want to get a copy of the accident report, that would indicate fault. Good Luck!
