If politicians took a pay cut, would it…..?
help the economy any? I mean, when politicians raise taxes, raise tolls on the highways and bridges, the price of stamps going up every time you turn around, raise the cost of this and that, whether it be on the local, state or federal level, the taxpayer is the one that suffers because it's more money out of our pockets that many of us can't afford as most of us have our own personal financial responsibilities. College students have government loans to repay, those that are married have mortgages or rent to pay, along with other expenses such as raising children, paying car insurance, etc. but the politicians that run the government - local, state and federal seem to think that we're all rich and wealthy, as if we can ALL afford to hand over MORE money every time they raise something like the tolls or taxes.
Do you think that, if each and every politician took a pay cut and/or put a stop to giving themselves raises, would that help alleviate the burden on the taxpayer?
It's just a thought - was wondering if it would affect our pocket, having more money to use on our own personal expenses and money to save.

I believe that any person holding public office should do so for FREE and not draw a salary at all. They also need to cut pork barrel spending to their buddies and that would do more for the debt than anything else.
i think politician pay cuts would do hardly any difference when compared to the millions that could be saved by cutting out some of the wasteful spending going on every day. if they really wanted to lower taxes they could do it without cutting their own pay.
Doubt it… Their pay is a tidbit of the taxpayer money.. Won’t help, especially when all the money we save will either be going to pay for a war or to pay off a debt.. Not being put back into the economy…

3 No If the corporations and lobbyist gave back some of their income there would be a lot of money to work with.
Lets get real. They will never take a pay cut. The rest of America is supposed to,but a politician,never happen.
I don’t think the raise they get would make any difference other than be a sympolic measure they are taking on themselves to show a good example to Americans that Congress is trying to set the example.
